The El Nido Island Hopping Day-Tour A is the most famous tour package in El Nido. It is also known as Miniloc Island Tour Destination. The tour includes a stop to two lagoons (Small Lagoon and Big Lagoon), Secret Lagoon, Shimizu Island, and 7 Commandos Beach. All of them are simply amazing and there is no words to explain what a spectacle will appear in front of your eyes as soon as you get there. We live in a wonderful world. We went to the Philippines in early March and the weather was on TOP.
First at all, I went there with my girlfriend, but the price per person is the same, even if you are travelling on your own. You can book also one day only in advance in almost any travel agency in El Nido. In 2014, El Nido municipal government doubled the cost of the island tours. We paid 1200 PHP each ($25 USD) and this included boat transportation and lunch. It was one of the best of all the tours we have been to, in all South East Asia, with fresh fish and fruit served in great locations (such hidden lagoons) .
If you need snorkelling gear, that is an extra 100 pesos per person ($2 USD). Remember that these are not private tours, so you share the boat with other people (up to 14 per boat). That gives you the opportunity to meet other travellers, like we did in our experience.
If you want something more exclusive, you can just walk on the beach and bargain with some Philippine fishermen for a private boat to bring you around. I have no idea what the price would be like, but I guess it will not be less then 1200 with no lunch included.
I had never thought the world could have been that beautiful. Big Lagoon was seriously breathtaking. It can only be accessed by boat at high tide as it can get very shallow at the entrance. For this reason the crew of our boat had to get off and push the boat at some point. Quiet, wonderful and peaceful. It felt like being in a dream when I looked around at the scenic limestone surrounding the lagoon and the different shades of water colours, things you think you can only see in a movie. Small and huge cliffs, coral reef and crystal clear water. This has been my favourite spot of Tour A and one of the best I have ever visited, so you definitely have to go there.
- Big Lagoon is included in the Tour A leaving from the town. If you are not interested to this tour, find a boat that is leaving earlier than the rest, you will have Big Lagoon by yourself.
- Bring with you a good camera (and a water bag), because you will see one of the most photographed sights in all Philippines.
- Bring some water and don’t worry about food, they will cook catch of the day and fresh things for you.
